IT IS BELIEVED THAT IN THE YEAR 40 CALKOR THE SCHOLAR STARTED STUDYING THE SKIES, AND THAT IS THE SPARK THAT LED HER TO CREATING THE FIRST CALENDAR OF KAMIKA.

SHE RETROACTIVELY NUMBERED THE YEARS BEFORE, PUTTING THE START AT THE BIRTH OF THE FIRST.

CREATING THIS CALENDAR OF COURSE, WAS NOT A SMALL TASK.

CALKOR DERIVED INFORMATION FROM SKIES, CALCULATING THE RELATION BETWEEN THE CYCLES OF THE PLANET, THE MOON, AND THE SUN. CAREFULLY STUDYING THE STARS. AFTER YEARS OF HARD WORK, BY THE YEAR 50 THE CALENDAR WAS IN USE BY CLAKOR’S PEOPLE.

BUT IT WAS MINK THE DWARF THAT SHARED IT WITH THE HUMANS.

HUMAN SOCIETY STARTED USING THE CALKOR’S CALENDAR IN THE YEAR 138 AND HAVE BEEN USING IT EVER SINCE, ON ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. ALTHOUGH THEY CALLED IT THE MINK CALENDAR.

OTHER CALENDARS WERE CREATED SINCE THEN AND PUT FORWARD FOR USE, BUT AS OF THE 340S THE MINK CALENDAR WAS ALREADY THE OFFICIAL CALENDAR ALL OVER KAMIKA, KNOWN AT THE TIME AS THE ROYAL CALENDAR. IT WAS LATER RENAMED “CALENDAR OF KANN GRANN”.

ALTHOUGH IT TOOK UNTIL THE 700S BEFORE THE UNITS OF TIME ACROSS ALL MAJOR SETTLEMENTS WERE UNIFIED UNDER THE COMMON TIME AGREEMENT. (CTA)

THE CALENDAR OF KANN GRANN IS A TRANSLATION OF CALKOR’S ORIGINAL DESIGN. THE STRUCTURE IS MOSTLY THERE, ADAPTED BY THE INFLUENCE OF TIME OF COURSE, BUT MOSTLY THERE.

THE DIVISIONS AND MEASURES OF TIME ARE THE BIGGEST CHANGE.

IN CALKOR’S TIME, IT WAS COMMON TO ANCHOR THE PASSAGE OF TIME BY THE RATE OF A RESTING HEARTBEAT. THAT WAS NAMED A SECOND. AND FROM THAT, ALL TIME MEASURES WHERE DERIVED.

THE CALENDAR OF KANN GRANN HAS BEEN ADAPTED TO FOLLOW THE TIME MEASURES OF THE CTA INSTEAD.

UNDER THE CTA IT IS ACCEPTED THAT THE ANCHOR TO BASE TIME IS INSTEAD A DAY.

A DAY IS THE TIME THE PLANET TAKES TO SPIN AROUND ITS AXIS. THE EXACT TIME BETWEEN ONE SUNRISE AND THE NEXT.

THAT TIME IS THEN DIVIDED INTO HOURS, MINUTES, AND SECONDS, OR MULTIPLIED INTO WEEKS, MONTHS, YEARS AND SO ON.

SO, TO SIMPLIFY, LET US START SMALL.

IN THAT CASE, IT ALL STARTS WITH A SECOND.
